For more than 85 years, the American Red Cross has helped people in communities throughout Alaska prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies by providing health and safety training to adults and children. The goal of American Red Cross courses is to teach people not only how to respond to injuries, but also how to prevent them. Last year over 33,000 Alaskans learned the vital skills needed to save a life by taking a Red Cross certified course.

Certified Training

The American Red Cross is the premier provider of life saving training and offers a wide range of programs including first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training, lifeguard training and water safety instruction, and babysitters training. More specialized programs include CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Wilderness First Aid, Responding to Emergencies, and Pet First Aid. All programs emphasize the importance of prevention and reflect the most recent changes in cardiac care.

The American Red Cross offers certified training for individuals and groups. Individual training is offered at our five office locations throughout the state and through our Authorized Partners in remote Alaska and on the slopes.

Classes designed for groups are tailored to meet the needs of each requesting business or organization.

Community Education Outreach

Bringing lifesaving information to large groups of people is at the core of the Red Cross community education outreach efforts. Through programs like our "Get Prepared!" brown bag lunch series, AWARE Schools program , and HIV/Aids Education program, Red Cross provides services and information with our children, neighbors, coworkers and other members of our community.
